Have a dog that gives you problems taking medication?
It is not uncommon.
- There are some creative alternatives to try:
Force the pill down an open throat – risk getting your fingers nipped and having and unhappy pet on your hand.
- Disguise the pill with some table food -wrap it in baloney or cheese! – That’s OK if your dog is use to eating table food but there is chance he will sniff it out!
- And the he will spit it out!
Greenies has created the Pill Pocket treats.
The Old Man has been using them for a number of years. Our Dallas was a fussy Golden Retriever and they were a perfect way for him to get his medication. Now with Sarge we just followed the same procedure.
If and when Sarge needs his meds, we just put the pill into the pocket and drop the pocket into his food. If he has to take tne meds before or after his food, we just give it to him as a treat!
The flavoring in the Pill Pocket disguises any of the “medicine smell” and he just swallows and wags his tail!
Do your Battle Buddy a favor – try Greenies Pocket Pill the next time you need to deliver the meds!
